The Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Fraternity of the Elliott School for International Affairs at the George Washington University present:

Washingtology: Commercial Providence and George Washington’s Federal City

Please join us for a conversation between Professor Stephen J. Trachtenberg and author Dr. Patrick Mendis, with an introduction by Colonel Larry Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell and adjunct professor at GW.

Professor Patrick Mendis, the acclaimed author of Commercial Providence: The Secret Destiny of the American Empire, picks up where Dan Brown’s Lost Symbol left off, giving readers a consummate guide to Washington, DC, and America’s secret mission in the world. In his foreword to the book, Professor Trachtenberg, president emeritus of GW, writes that “Unlike Dan Brown in the Lost Symbol, Patrick Mendis has a serious scholarly purpose . . . seen through the eyes of the Founding Fathers and the Masonic Architect of the Universe.” Senator Thomas Daschle, former US Senate Majority Leader describes the book, “A unique and insightful analysis of the power of freedom.” Congressman Robert Livingston, former Speaker-elect of US Congress, concludes: “Mendis . . . reveals the secret.” The forum is open to public, followed by book-signing by the author:

Tuesday, October 26th 6:30-8:00 pm

Marvin Center, Room 308

800 21st St NW

Washington, DC 20052

Professor Patrick Mendis wrote this and previous book, TRADE for PEACE, as a visiting foreign policy scholar at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. A former military professor and an American diplomat during the Clinton and Bush administrations, the author is an affiliate professor of public and international affairs at George Mason University.
